Prince Harry and Meghan moving back to UK to help Kate Middleton amid cancer diagnosis and treatment
Plans for a revisitation of the UK by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear to be on hold due to an unexpected issue with his security appeal.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly paused their search for a British residence.
This delay comes after a recent court decision denied Prince Harry’s request for faster processing of his appeal regarding his security detail, asking him to “jump the queue” like other people.
In the past, the estranged royal couple sought a permanent residence in the Duke’s hometown. However, Harry and Meghan reportedly experienced significant privacy breaches on their most recent trip to London, making it more difficult for them to bring their children along. This situation arose years after they left their roles as working royals and were expelled from Frogmore Cottage.
The Duke and his family’s security arrangements in the UK have changed since they left the country, leading to this current situation. On the other hand, Prince Harry has been given permission to appeal a June decision by the High Court that overturned his challenge to the downgrading of his personal security in the country. According to a source who spoke with UK Express, Harry really does want to spend more time in the UK but doesn’t feel comfortable doing so until the security issues have been resolved.
A month ago, it was reported that the couple was attempting to split their time between the United Kingdom and the United States as the legal battle continues. This strategy was thought to help them avoid having to check into and out of hotels each time they visited the country. The source continued, saying he and Meghan intended to look for a part-time home near Windsor this year and hoped that the appeals process would be heard before the end of July so they could properly begin their search. However, it appears that the court process is taking its time.
Prince Harry’s attempt to expedite his security case was rejected by a Court of Appeals judge. Harry was denied any special privileges, and the judge emphasized that everyone follows the same procedure. Different royal specialists and insiders previously uncovered that Harry is anxious to take his children back to London to acquaint them with their roots, as his family continues to live in California. However, this wouldn’t be possible unless the security situation was resolved. “The time it’s taking is fairly sad,” a source said. “They don’t feel confident in bringing the children over with them.” They added that there were plans in motion to spend more time in the UK this year, but since there is still a big question mark over security, they don’t feel confident in doing so.
The struggle for Prince Harry to keep his security team has dragged on for some time. After he stopped being a royal, he first objected to the Home Office’s decision to reduce the amount of taxpayer money spent on his security. Even though the High Court dismissed his complaint in February and denied him an opportunity to ask a higher court to look into it in April, Harry’s legal team won their appeal in June, so the battle isn’t over yet.
