Prince Harry details bedroom situation at Balmoral as Duke set to miss tradition this year
Story by Lauren Welch

Prince Harry previously recalled how he shared a room with Prince William during their annual childhood trips to Balmoral, as the Duke is set to miss the annual tradition this year.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not expected to travel to Balmoral this month. Members of the Royal Family – such as the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children – are set to join King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Scottish estate next week.

The 39-year-old took to his memoir Spare – which was released last year – to recount the childhood memory.

The royal, who now resides in the US, wrote: “Balmoral had fifty bedrooms, one of which had been divided for me and Willy. Adults called it the nursery.

“Willy had the larger half, with a double bed, a good-sized basin, a cupboard with mirrored doors, a beautiful window looking down on the courtyard, the fountain, the bronze statue of a roe deer buck.”
Speaking of his side of the room, Harry penned: “My half of the room was far smaller, less luxurious. I never asked why.

“I didn’t care. But I also didn’t need to ask. Two years older than me, Willy was the Heir, whereas I was the Spare.”

The father of two also discussed his own opinion of the Balmoral estate, whilst comparing it to ‘Disney World’.

Harry wrote: “To me, Balmoral was always simply paradise. A cross between Disney World and some sacred Druid grove. I was always too busy fishing, shooting, running up and down ‘the hill’ to notice anything off about the Feng Shui of the old castle. What I’m trying to say is, I was happy there.”

Express.co.uk exclusively revealed last month that Harry and Meghan had been snubbed of another invite to Balmoral this year.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not been invited to the royal family’s summer gathering in the Scottish Highlands for a number of years.

While Harry travelled to Balmoral as a child, it’s believed that Meghan has never visited the Scottish castle. This likely means that Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, have also never spent time with their family at the estate.

Crunch time for Harry and Meghan as US stardom comes into question | Royal InsightplayIndicator
What has been quite interesting to watch from afar, is how these stories have been picked up in both the US and in Britain. There was a time, if you think back to those Oprah interviews, the Netflix documentary, and Harry’s memoir, where everything they said and everything they did made pages of news and were talked about on American TV shows. This time around, it hasn’t quite been the same. The couple have been saying quite dramatic things. Things that at one time would have caused countless headlines. This time around, the response has been a little bit more muted in Britain. In America, there’s been a real absence of debate on the big TV news channels and on breakfast shows that seem to set the tone for conversation in American households. So the question I suppose the Sussexes and their team around them might be asking is, is their star power waning slightly? And do Harry and Meghan really care? The problem they face is that to keep in the headlines, they now need to be saying things that are even more dramatic about the royal family, in order to get noticed. 15 Uncomfortable Truths About the British Class System
The British class system, often wrapped in the fabric of tradition and heritage, carries with it a set of uncomfortable truths that continue to shape society today. Have you ever wondered how deep these divisions run today? 1. Education Disparity Top-tier universities and public schools often remain the domain of the upper classes, perpetuating a cycle where the elite educate their own, leaving less privileged students at a disadvantage. Is this really about merit, or is it about maintaining power? 2. Employment Opportunities The type of school attended and the accent one speaks with can dramatically influence job prospects. Are … Read more

Kate Middleton And Prince William Make First Couples Appearance Together Since 2023
Story by Mehera Bonner
• 7h • 2 min read

Kate Middleton and Prince William just made their first official couples appearance together of the year! The royal duo joined forces to wish Team Great Britain congratulations on their Olympic run, joining several other celebs in a video posted to their Instagram:

Outside of a family gathering for Trooping the Colour, Wills and Kate haven’t done an official event together since December of 2023—and have largely done solo appearances amid Kate’s cancer diagnosis and unsubstantiated rumors about their relationship.

Kate has made just two appearances as she goes through preventative chemotherapy, showing up at Trooping the Colour and Wimbledon.

She spoke about her treatment in June, writing in part ‘I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well. My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.’
It’s unclear when Kate will make a formal return to public engagements, but happy to see her looking so well!
