Blake Lively issues apology as she’s left ‘mortified’ over ‘silly’ Princess Kate post
Blake Lively has admitted she is now “mortified” after making a joke about Princess Kate’s Mother’s Day photo.
Blake Lively joined a slew of Hollywood celebrities earlier this month poking fun at Princess Kate’s Mother’s Day photo and the editing speculation that flooded the internet.
However, since then, the Princess of Wales has revealed her absence from the public eye had been due to a devastating cancer diagnosis.
Following her bombshell announcement, the 36-year-old actress took to Instagram hours later to apologise for her part in the online speculation.
Writing against a plain black background on her Instagram story, Blake stated: “I’m sure no one cares today but I feel like I have to acknowledge this.
“I made a silly post around the ‘photoshop fails’ frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today. I’m sorry.

“Sending love and well wishes to all, always,” she concluded with a red heart.
The Hollywood star has since deleted her “silly post” hinting at the photo editing furore, which promoted her Betty Booze drinks brand, but didn’t expressly name the royal.
In the snap, Blake was seen lounging poolside as she held onto a Betty Buzz can with a comically large lemon photoshopped above her with the caption reading: “I’m so excited to share this new photo I just took today to announce our 4 new @bettybuzz & @bettybooze products!
“Now you know why I’ve been MIA.”

The Gossip Girl alum has since deleted the ‘silly post’
Fans lashed out at the Gossip Girl star when the post initially went out, accusing her of being a hypocrite for mocking the Princess’ request for privacy, while the actress and her husband Ryan Reynolds have been notoriously protective of their own children and their privacy.
Blake is currently one of the only A-listers to apologise for their part in the online speculation around the Mother’s Day image, with social media users demanding apologies in the comments sections of posts from other stars, including Andy Cohen, John Oliver and Kim Kardashian.
Kim’s Instagram post is still up on her page, showing the reality star posing by her car alongside the caption: “On my way to go find Kate.” (sic)
Following the global speculation over Kate’s supposed disappearance, the Princess took to her and Prince William’s official Instagram page to reveal that while her surgery in January had been “successful”, it was discovered that she has cancer and she is now “in the early stages” of treatment.
