Royal Family LIVE: Inside Prince Harry’s UK return and why he may travel alone
The Duke of Sussex is reportedly expected to be making a trip back home later this year and there is a high chance he will be making it solo.
Prince Harry is expected to be coming back to the UK in weeks – and despite speculation that Meghan Markle could be joining him, the prospect of her doing so seems highly unlikely, it has been reported.
The Duke of Sussex is believed to have expressed hope to attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London, later in May, to mark the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games and whilst his travel plans have not yet officially been confirmed, it is “unlikely” he will be bringing his wife or their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the Telegraph reports.
Harry launched the Games back in March 2014 at London’s Copper Box arena, used as a venue during the 2012 Olympics and even spoke about this year’s event during his speech at the closing ceremony of last year’s event in Dusseldorf in October, saying: “Next year [2024], we’ve got a lot to look forward to. The Invictus Games Foundation 10-year anniversary, yes, 10 years! And then it’s off to Vancouver Whistler 2025.”
But in February, the prince lost his High Court challenge against the Government over his security protection when visiting the UK which was downgraded after he stopped being a “working royal” in 2020.
Insiders said that with or without Meghan, Harry will most likely not be meeting with his brother Prince William or the Princess of Wales, following her cancer diagnosis announcement, as they’ve put the “Harry issue” to the back of their minds.
