A Royal Expert Says Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Made A Subtle ‘Dig’ At Kate Middleton With Their Comments About ‘Privacy’
Upon the announcement of Kate Middleton‘s cancer diagnosis, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry conveyed their well wishes in an official statement last month.
However, royal commentator Nana Akua recently sat down with GB News and posited that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s message contained a subtle jab at the Princess of Wales, 42.
Did Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Make A ‘Dig’ At Kate Middleton? A Royal Commentator Says So
Soon after Princess Kate’s devastating March 22nd announcement, Markle, 42, and Harry, 39, wrote: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
Speaking to guest Lee Cohen on GBN America, royal expert Akua said that she found this statement to be a potential swipe at Kate. “Well, I thought the message was interesting because Harry and Meghan’s message was about offering health and healing,” Akua said.
She continued: “But then it felt like there was a dig about the privacy that they need themselves. I just thought I could almost hear Meghan saying unlike the privacy you gave us sort of thing. Do you know what I mean?”
Cohen concurred, and replied: “Absolutely, it’s so underlines the difference between celebrity and public servant. Truly admired public servants are the working royals versus Meghan and Harry who have become nothing but celebrity influencers.” He went on: “In the United States, most people can’t even make the distinction. So that gives rise to what you’ve just underlined.”
During Kate’s aforementioned video, the Duchess of Cambridge expressed how “incredibly tough” the past “couple of months” were for her “entire family” after being diagnosed with cancer. Prior to this, rumors circulated as to Kate’s whereabouts and condition after Kensington Palace’s statement in January 2024 regarding her planned abdominal surgery and extensive recovery time.
“I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” Kate told viewers in the clip. “The surgery was successful, however tests after the operation found cancer had been present.”
The mother-of-three explained in the video that she is in the early stages of chemotherapy, and gently but firmly requested privacy as she continues her treatment.
A source reportedly close to the royal family told People Magazine that Markle and Harry were “left out of any details regarding Kate’s diagnosis.” A separate source told The Mirror this was purposeful, because it would mean “less of a risk that the couple might leak the information themselves.”
