Kate Middleton’s worry for Prince Louis as he follows in Prince Harry’s footsteps
Princess Kate previously revealed there was one area of Prince Louis’s life she was ‘worried’ about – and it’s a passion that the little boy shares with his uncle, Prince Harry
The Princess of Wales certainly has her hands full with little Prince Louis. The youngest of the Wales children is known for his cheeky behaviour, playful antics and animated expressions at official events.
And it seems he is no less enthusiastic when it comes to his life away from the cameras. During a training session with the England Rugby team in 2022 ahead of their first Six Nations tournament match, Princess Kate revealed that her youngest son loves playing the sport but she was ‘worried’ that his style is a bit too rough.
“They’re all enjoying it,” she said, when asked if any of her children enjoyed rugby. “Louis is kamikaze,” she added, referring to his style of playing. “We’re worrying about when he gets older, he’ll be in the middle of everything.”
More recently, during a meeting with England’s Wheelchair Rugby League squad in October, she revealed, “Louis is mad about rugby. They are at an age where they just love running around.”
Prince Harry is also known to be an avid fan of the sport. In his memoir Spare, the Duke spoke about his love for rugby, admitting that it “captured his heart”. He wrote: “I played [all] sport, though rugby captured my heart. [It’s a] beautiful game, plus a good excuse to run into stuff very hard.”
Princess Charlotte, meanwhile, is just as sporty as her siblings. She attended The Commonwealth Games in Birmingham with her parents in August 2022, and was asked what her favourite sport was – to which she replied “gymnastics”.

William and Kate vouched for their daughter’s passion, with the Prince revealing that Charlotte is partial to practising at home. He stated that she does “cartwheels all around the house”, with Kate adding that the young gymnast is very adventurous. She joked that her daughter “spends most of her time upside down”.
The trio also watched a hockey match at the event – and it made a big impression on the young Princess. Ama Agbeze, a Commonwealth netball gold medallist, later said: “Kate and William went with Princess Charlotte to the England hockey match. Charlotte was saying she wants to play hockey. When I’d met Kate before she’d said that she played netball so I said ‘she has to play netball, stop’.
“But it doesn’t matter as long as she plays sport, she can play every sport under the sun. It will be good if people take her lead. If Princess Charlotte is sitting there and thinking ‘I want to do this’, how many other children are watching and thinking that?”
The family are also known to be avid tennis fans – both Prince George and Princess Charlotte have attended Wimbledon in the past – while George enjoys going to football matches with his dad.
