Prince William’s hilarious comment after ‘flirty’ Kate Middleton ’embarrassed’ him

Prince William and Princess Kate have a shared sense of humour – and they aren’t afraid to poke fun at each other in public, including one instance when William accused his wife of ‘flirting’

In a matter of days, Prince William and Princess Kate will celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary.

Over the years, we have seen many tender moments between the royal couple and it’s clear they share the same sense of humour, with in-jokes ranging from Kate’s bad cooking to William’s hair loss.

One particularly funny moment occurred back in December 2015 when the royal pair were answering phone calls to raise money for the ICAP charity day. They were in high spirits during the event – and William even joked about having to stop his wife flirting on the phone.

The Prince had overheard Kate talking to a caller named Andrew, and he blurted out: “Catherine, I think you can stop flirting with them now,” before turning to a broker, raising his eyebrow and muttering: “Sorry, my wife is just embarrassing me.”

One year earlier, during their tour of Australia with baby Prince George, Kate had seized the opportunity to poke fun at her husband’s bald spot during one of their official engagements.

Lyn Crejan, a farmer from Glenn Innes in New South Wales, showed them a tuft of alpaca wool that just so happened to be a similar shade to William’s hair.

“The Prince was interested in the alpaca and as I showed it to them the Princess said he should put it on his head,” Crejan told reporters. “She said, ‘You need it more than me,’ and pointed to his head and he laughed.” William has also joked about his wife’s cooking before, joking that the standard of home cooking was what kept him slim.

The royal couple were treated to a special five-course meal, prepared by five Michelin-starred chefs at Houghton Hall, a stately home close to their country house Anmer Hall on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. “William has to put up with my cooking most of the time,” Kate told the chefs. He joked: “It’s the reason I’m so skinny.”

The couple’s ability to laugh and joke together has always been a key factor in their relationship, right from the very start.

Back in 2010 following their engagement announcement, Prince William said of his future wife Kate: “Obviously we both have a very fun time together, both have a very good sense of humour about things, we’re down to earth, we take the mickey out of each other a lot, and she’s got plenty of habits that make me laugh that I tease her about.”
