Unai Emery’s team lost 4-2, giving them a disadvantage as they head into next week’s showdown at Karaiskakis Stadium. The victors of this double-header will face either Club Brugge or Fiorentina in the final, scheduled for Wednesday, May 29.
The second half faced a delay due to a medical emergency in one of the stands, leading to a reported evacuation of hundreds of fans from the area. An announcement later revealed: “We would like to thank all the medical staff for their prompt support.”
Aston Villa entered the match still buzzing from a 2-2 draw with Chelsea, maintaining their unbeaten streak in five home games across all competitions. They’ve netted wins in every single one of their Europa Conference League home games this season.

That evening marked the first public appearance for either Prince William or Prince George since Kate, the Princess of Wales shared her cancer diagnosis. In March, she disclosed her ongoing cancer treatment through a heartfelt video message, leading to a period of private family time over the Easter holidays.
Post-match, Neil Moxley, the Sunday People’s chief sports writer asked the Prince of Wales about his thoughts on the game. Sharing on X, previously known as Twitter, he recounted asking William: “Your Highness – after the Mostar game we saw you and you said 1-0 was a good result in Europe. How was this? ” William reportedly responded: “Two-nil would have been better.”
