Prince Harry’s uncle and Spencer family out in force despite missing guests at Invictus service
It seems Prince Harry won’t be alone at tonight’s Invictus Games celebration as his uncle, the Earl Spencer, has been seen arriving at St Paul’s Cathedral.
The event is commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, which Harry set up in 2014 to support injured servicemen and women. Tonight’s service will feature a reading from the Duke of Sussex and actor Damian Lewis.
Fans had been worried Harry would be at the service alone, with his wife Meghan Markle deciding not to return to the UK and the Royal Family deciding not to attend the Invictus Games event. However, Earl Charles Spencer and Lady Jane Fellowes, both siblings of the late Princess Diana, turned up to support Harry.

While Earl Charles Spencer and Lady Jane Fellowes were in attendance at the Cathedral, Harry was alone as he walked up the steps to the entrance. The Duke of Sussex had hoped to meet with the King during his stay in the UK, but a spokesperson for Harry revealed this wouldn’t be happening.
It was announced King Charles is too busy to reunite with his son. As people made their way into St Paul’s Cathedral, the monarch was flanked by a huge contingent of royals in a show of unity at this afternoon’s Buckingham Palace garden party, which is taking place just two miles away.
In a statement, Harry’s spokesperson said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.
“The duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.” Harry’s brother Prince William will also not be meeting with the Duke of Sussex and won’t be attending tonight’s Invictus Games event.
It’s believed the Prince of Wales has decided not to meet his brother because of their strained relationship. An insider told The Mirror’s Royal Editor Russel Myers: “Their relationship remains extremely fractured. Harry has privately expressed a wish to sit down with his brother but now is not the time.”
Another insider claimed that the brothers haven’t managed to have a breakthrough in their tense relationship, despite Harry and Meghan sending well-wishes to Princess Kate when she was diagnosed with cancer.
