Prince William’s gaffe
The Prince Of Wales Attends The 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards

Prince William appeared to make an awkward blunder at the BAFTA Awards earlier this year. The Prince of Wales was introduced to the Rising Star Award nominees, with Mia McKenna-Bruce taking home the gong for her performance in How To Have Sex.

The film follows Tara, a virgin who goes on holiday to Malia with her friends. While the film ends tragically, with McKenna-Bruce’s character being raped, Prince William claimed it looked like “a lot of fun” to shoot, despite not having seen it.

As he greeted the nominees, the 41-year-old told her: “I haven’t yet watched your film – I think it looked like you had a lot of fun all the way through.” He later admitted to not watching any of the nominees’ movies.Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards 2019 - Red Carpet Arrivals

Rochelle Humes’ wardrobe malfunction
Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards 2019 – Red Carpet Arrivals

Rochelle Humes seemed to suffer a wardrobe malfunction at the BAFTA TV Awards in 2019. The 35-year-old took the red carpet by storm as she turned up in a show-stopping black gown.

The dress featured sheer sleeves and a necktie, drawing attention to her décolletage. The ensemble featured a daring split, as Humes ensured her pins were on show.

But as she stood alongside her husband Marvin Humes, the mum-of-three could be seen struggling with her billowing dress as she posed in front of photographers.

As the former This Morning presenter was snapped attempting to keep the sheer fabric in place, her matching underwear became exposed to cameras.

Kerry Condon and Carey MulliganKerry Condon and Carey Mulligan

In 2023, Carey Mulligan and Kerry Condon were both up for Best Supporting Actress at the BAFTA Awards.

Mulligan, 38, was nominated for her performance in She Said, but it was Condon, 41, who won the gong for her role in The Banshees of Inisherin.

2022’s Best Supporting Actor winner Troy Kotsure revealed Condon had won the award, however, the sign language interpreter mistakenly announced Mulligan as the winner.

Fortunately, Kotsure and the on-stage interpreter realised the mistake before Mulligan got out of her seat to accept the award.

Technical issues
Davina McCall accepting an award

Following the coronavirus pandemic, the 2021 BAFTA TV Awards took place semi-virtually. Davina McCall and her team were up for the Features Award for Long Lost Family: Born Without Trace.

The ITV show, which helps people reunite with estranged relatives in emotional scenes, took home the gong on the night, leaving Davina and her team leaping with joy as they appeared via a video call.

The presenter, 56, began an emotional and heartfelt speech as she paid tribute to the people who agreed to share their personal stories on the programme.

But a technical blunder interrupted her flow, as odd words were cut off, with the audio glitch making it difficult for viewers to hear what she was saying. Afterwards, host Richard Ayoade attempted to save the day by making light of the issue.

Acceptance gone wrong
Emma Stone at the BAFTAs

Poor Things triumphed at this year’s BAFTA Awards, with the Fremantle-produced feature film walking away with five awards.

Lead star Emma Stone picked up the award for Best Actress for her performance as Bella Baxter, beating Barbie’s Margot Robbie and Carey Mulligan.

But as she stood up from her seat to accept her award, the 35-year-old got caught up in an awkward blunder. After hugging those next to her, the actress was forced to apologise as she walked straight into the cameraman.
