Princes Harry and William could finally be set to end a feud between them that has raged on for years. This news comes as “Harry is likely to be back in the U.K., maybe before his Invictus commitment in May, to see his father,” royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams exclusively tells The Royal Observer.
“Speculation about the rift with William is rife, we don’t know what the future may hold, but illness can change everything,” the entertainment commentator adds.
The Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex have reportedly been feuding ever since the latter started dating Meghan Markle in 2016. By the fall of 2017, wedding plans were already being mapped out between the military hero prince and supporting actor on Suits. It has been reported that there was immediate “tension” between Prince William, Duchess Kate, and Meghan.
“Kate knew from the start that Meghan was bad news,” a former palace courtier during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign explosively spilled. “William is also very astute, as he gets that trait from Princess Diana, but he gave Meghan a chance before finding out how she operates.”
It has long been speculated that the “Fab Four,” as they were nicknamed in 2018, actually despise one another. Shortly before her wedding to Harry in May of that year, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex-to-be, had a spat with Kate, the then-Duchess of Cambridge, about Prince Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress.
“That rift about the dress started a feud that has never been resolved,” another royal insider claimed, while a third claimed: “Every time they turn around, Harry and Meghan have planted some new allegation against them or petty story. It is hard for them not to be able to defend themselves, but silence is always the best response.”
It is believed the two royal siblings “have not spoken a word to one another” since Elizabeth II’s September 19, 2022, funeral.
However, there are some royal analysts and historians who suggest the brotherly rift actually pre-dates Meghan.
“For reasons not readily known, William and Harry started to fiercely bicker with one another as far back as the 2000s,” a former palace aide shared. “In some ways, this substantiates some of what Harry wrote about in Spare, however, I do not for one second think William and Kate orchestrated Harry putting on that Nazi uniform.”
In his 2023 memoir, the Duke of Sussex claimed that his brother and future sister-in-law convinced him to wear a Nazi get-up to a costume party in early 2005. Photographs were taken and the pictures hit papers, magazines and online news outlets the next day, bringing on “probably the biggest royal scandal of the 2000s,” the aide added.
