Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘not invited’ to Elton John’s Oscars party after ‘row’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly not invited to Sir Elton John’s annual Oscars party in 2023, according to royal expert Tom Bower.
The author suggested the snub shows the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “nobodies in Hollywood”. Despite being expected at various Academy Awards events, Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, were nowhere to be seen.
One of these glamorous events was hosted by pop legend and Princess Diana’s friend, Sir Elton John, who raised a record £7.4m for his AIDS Foundation at his annual Oscars party in 2023. The event saw big names like model Heidi Klum, fashion designer Donatella Versace and singer Rina Sawayama in attendance.

However, Harry and Meghan were noticeably absent, leading Mr Bower to suggest on GB News that their lack of invitation is a sign of their fading influence in the US. He said: “They weren’t even invited to Elton John’s party at the Oscars. They really are nobodies in Hollywood!”
The Elton John AIDS Foundation, established in 1992, aims to end the AIDS epidemic, a cause that was dear to Princess Diana. In April 1987, she opened the UK’s first purpose-built HIV/Aids unit at London Middlesex Hospital.
Princess Diana once bravely shook the hand of a man suffering from HIV/Aids without wearing gloves, challenging the belief that the disease could be spread by touch, in front of the world’s media. Tickets for Sir Elton John’s annual party are available to the public and top celebrities also receive invites.

Prince Harry
Prince Harry previously opened up about a disagreement with Elton John
Harry and Meghan’s no-show at the party followed the Duke’s revelation in his book Spare about a disagreement he had with the I’m Still Standing singer during a holiday. While staying with Elton and his husband David Furnish at their French home, Harry found out that Elton’s memoir Me was going to be serialised in the Daily Mail – a newspaper the Sussexes have previously taken legal action against.
Harry questioned the pop star about why he chose a newspaper that he claimed made his life “miserable.” Sir Elton replied he “wanted people to read” his book, which made the Duke back down.

Harry said: “I loved him. I’ll always love him. And I also didn’t want to spoil the holiday.”
It remains to be seen if the couple will attend this year’s glitzy event or if they will stay out of the public eye as they continue their lives in Montecito, California.
