Meghan Markle’s candid joke about her disgusting personal habit before she met Prince Harry
Meghan Markle has launched a new lifestyle venture called America Riviera Orchard, and it’s not the first time the Duchess of Sussex has shared her thoughts on life, love, and everything in between
Meghan Markle’s candid admission about ‘unladylike habit’ months before she met Harry Meghan has re-entered the lifestyle space, and she looks set to dominate.
The Duchess of Sussex’s new venture – America Riviera Orchard – amassed hundreds of thousands of followers on its new Instagram page in only a few hours, and fans were treated to a short video of Meghan arranging cut flowers, baking, and posing in a doorway whilst wearing a stunning black evening gown.
But this isn’t Meghan’s first foray into lifestyle – for years she ran a highly successful blog called The Tig, which covered everything from wellness and travel to the books that had captured her imagination.

The blog saw the Suits actress drop a wealth of insight into her personal life, friendships, and mindset, and she made some pretty candid admissions on there over the years before she married Prince Harry and joined the Royal Family – including one about an “unladylike habit”.
Meghan made the admission about her disgusting habit in a blog post she wrote for The Tig about New Year’s Resolution, and how much of a struggle it can be to keep them going – something most people can relate to.

“Run a marathon. Stop biting my nails. Stop swearing. Re-learn French. These make my New Year’s resolution list nearly (AKA actually every) single year,” Meghan explained in the post about the ways in which she annually tried to improve herself.
“The marathon hasn’t happened. The swearing comes in lulls triggered by being overworked or feeling mighty cheeky after a couple of drinks. Then there’s the French a language I studied through high school and then lost as I immersed myself in speaking Spanish with the Argentinians during my stint in Buenos Aires.
“I have put my little Rosetta Stone headset in my eager ears every year, resolving to do interviews en francais, but much to my chagrin, it hasn’t stuck,” the Duchess confessed.

“And when it comes to the biting of the nails well, it still happens with a turbulent flight or a stressful day. It’s unladylike. But then again, so is the swearing. Dammit.”
Meghan’s blog was filled with off-the-cuff moments like this, and given its success it shows how just how much people responded to the informal, authentic side of the Duchess – and provides a stark contrast to the more rigid rules she had to follow as a working member of the Royal Family.
Not much is known about the details of America Riviera Orchard yet, but trademarks filed showed that the company may be planning on selling physical goods, because the paperwork included everything from jellies and jams to yoga mats and pet food.
