Meghan Markle’s sweet royal aspiration resurfaces from old blog – with post about Kate
On her now-defunct lifestyle blog, Meghan admitted a sweet aspiration to do with royalty that she had many years before she even met Prince Harry, and she mentions Kate
Many years before Meghan even locked eyes with Prince Harry, she wrote about a royal aspiration she held on her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig.
This week has seen Meghan officially reenter the lifestyle space, as she launched her new venture America Riviera Orchard, but she is no stranger to success in this field.
For years before she became engaged to Harry she ran a seriously successful blog that featured candid admissions, travel, and wellness tips and provided insight into her mindset and personal life. A few months before the couple’s engagement was announced, The Tig was shut down – as was Meghan’s personal Instagram, which boasted 3 million followers.
Back in 2014, Meghan interviewed Princess Alia Al-Senussi – a descendent of the Libyan royals who were overthrown in the 1960s. The PhD holding Princess Alia has an impressive resume in the art world, where she works as a cultural strategist, and Meghan admitted that whilst interviewing the princess, she had a “pinch-myself-I’m-emailing-with-a-princess” sensation – per The Sun.
As she wrote the post, Meghan could have had no idea that one day she too would be part of a Royal Family, and that her own daughter would hold the title of princess too. She explored what fantasies of being a princess mean to children and “grown women” and admitted what her own royal aspiration was.
“Little girls dream of being princesses,” Meghan wrote, “I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power. For those of you unfamiliar with the ’80s cartoon reference, She-Ra is the twin sister of He-Man and a sword-wielding royal rebel known for her strength.
“We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella here. Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate.”

Only four years later, Meghan herself was at the centre of the same level of pomp at her own royal wedding in Windsor, as she married the love of her life. Meghan’s been open since leaving life as a working royal behind about how much she struggled mentally under the huge amount of scrutiny that comes with being part of the Royal Family.
Embodying the energy of a royal rebel is certainly something that many commentators have accused Harry and Meghan of doing – there’s even a documentary about them with that title – so it seems like the Duchess managed to retain her own childhood aspiration into adulthood.
