Prince George once received a very special present from King Charles in honour of his first birthday.

George, who is set to celebrate his 11th birthday on Monday, is the eldest of the King’s five grandchildren.

As well as being grandfather to George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, King Charles is also grandpa to Prince Harry’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Known to enjoy treating his grandchildren to a host of lavish birthday gifts, the King had an extraordinary gift installed at his Gloucestershire home, Highgrove House for George.

OK! previously reported that the King had a Victorian-style “Shepherd’s hut” by Dorset-based company Plankbridge presented for Prince William’s eldest son.

As previously reported by Express.co.uk, the “hut” came complete with a wood-burning stove and day bed.

It can be seen by visitors during guided tours of the King’s gardens and is said to have been a favourite play spot for George, Charlotte, and Louis.

Another treehouse at the home is one previously installed for William’s 7th birthday in 1989.

This wooden house has since been refurbished for King Charles’ grandchildren to use and enjoy during visits to the home.

And after George’s birth, Charles also granted him the most incredible and priceless gift – he named an arboretum in the gardens of Birkhall on the Balmoral estate after his grandson.

As reported by HELLO!, the then-Prince of Wales revealed during an interview in 2021 that he’d named the land ‘Prince George’s wood’.

The now-King said: “This was a rather empty field that the farm didn’t need anymore.

“The great thing was that I managed to plant it the same year that my grandson was born, the eldest, George, so I thought I’d call it Prince George’s wood.”
