Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘delinquent’ Archewell Foundation can’t raise money after failing to pay fees, submit records
Their prince has turned into a frog.
According to Page Six, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s charity foundation, Archewell, has been declared “delinquent” and ordered to stop raising or spending money.
Per an official letter from California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta, since May, the couple has let the registration fees for Archewell lapse.
This has caused it to be listed as “delinquent” in the registry of charities and fund-raisers.
The note explains, “An organization that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds.”
The document adds: “The organization may also be subject to penalties and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex set up their Archewell charity following their move to the US in March 2020 after quitting their senior royal roles, in an event known as “Megxit.”
Archewell includes the couple’s nonprofit charitable foundation as well as their for-profit business divisions focusing on media production, Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.
The Post now confirms that a check sent with the filing to the AG’s office appeared not to have been received. A new one has been issued, and should be resolved and reflected in records within seven business days.
So, once it gets processed, the foundation may be out of the doghouse.
This setback for Harry and Meghan comes shortly after Harry was snubbed by his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, on a trip to London before Harry and Meghan embarked on a semi-royal tour of Nigeria.
King Charles also reportedly met with David Beckham even as he snubbed his son.
Harry was in London last week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
King Charles reportedly offered for Prince Harry to stay in a royal residence when the Duke was in the UK, according to friends of the king.
Harry reportedly declined his father’s invitation and stayed at a hotel during the three-day trip instead.
Charles’ friends told the Sunday Times that the monarch was willing to let his youngest son enjoy royal accommodations in London.
The friends claimed that had Harry stayed in a royal residence, it would’ve been “easier” for him to see Charles amid their estranged relationship.
Sources close to Harry contested that report, and said that Charles was the one who chose not to see Harry during his stay in London.
Harry and Meghan then did a three-day visit to Nigeria.
Markle referred to Nigeria as “my country” during the trip. In 2022, Markle told her “Archetypes” podcast listeners that she had recently discovered she was “43% Nigerian” after completing an ancestry test.
The Post reached out to Archewell reps for comment.
