Prince Harry ‘fundamentally disagreed’ with key piece of advice from King Charles
Prince Harry took issue with his father’s advice when the media storm around his wife Meghan Markle took hold, according to the couple’s tell-all Netflix series

Prince Harry has revealed he was given some key advice from King Charles – but told his father he ‘fundamentally disagreed’ with his opinion.

Relations between Harry and the Royal Family continue to be strained following the Duke’s bombshell accusations about The Firm – and move to the US.

In their tell-all Netflix series, the Sussexes spoke about how Meghan became the centre of attention – both positively and negatively – upon her introduction into the royal fold.

Harry claimed: “The issue is when someone who’s marrying in, who should be a supporting act, is then stealing the limelight or is doing the job better than the person who is born to do this, that upsets people. It shifts the balance.”

The Duke then claimed that the King had reached out to offer advice when he expressed his concerns about media coverage around Meghan. “My dad said to me, ‘Darling boy, you can’t take on the media. The media will always be the media.’ And I said, ‘I fundamentally disagree,'” Harry recalled.

In the fourth episode of the show, Harry reveals he and William made a pact that their offices would not leak stories or brief journalists about each other. Harry and Meghan had initially shared communications houses with William and Kate but the couples decided to split and pursue different engagements months after the Sussexes tied the knot.

Referring to the royal communications teams, Harry said in the Netflix show: “William and I both saw what happened in our dad’s office and we made an agreement that we would never let that happen to our office.” However, he later claims: “I would far rather get destroyed in the press than play along with this game or this business of trading, and to see my brother’s office copy the very same thing that we promised the two of us would never ever do that was heartbreaking.”

It has been confirmed, meanwhile, that Harry will be travelling to London in a matter of days to attend a ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. He will be at the service of thanksgiving at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday, May 8, where he is expected to give a reading.

The trip to London will mark his first visit to the city since he came back to the UK in February after the King’s cancer diagnosis was made public. Harry spent just 45 minutes with his dad on a whirlwind trip that saw him spend just over 24 hours in his home country.

According to The Telegraph, a potential meet-up between Harry and Charles next week seems unlikely as it coincides with the King making his return to public-facing duties, with sources saying he his “quite busy”.

On the day Harry is in London for the Invictus service, the publication says Charles has his weekly audience with the Prime Minister. He could also be expected to appear at the first of the annual Buckingham Palace garden parties too, with other appointments reportedly in the diary for that day and the rest of the week.

Harry is also not expected to see his older brother Prince William or his sister-in-law the Princess of Wales, who is undergoing cancer treatment. The two brothers’ relationship remains strained, but Harry and Meghan did publicly send their best wishes to Kate when she announced her cancer news.
