Prince Harry LIVE: Royal touches down in UK but will not see King Charles during Invictus Games trip
Prince Harry is back in the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, but will not be able to meet up with his father, King Charles, despite earlier hopes they could see one another
Prince Harry has landed back in the UK, but any hopes he may visit his cancer-hit father during his solo trip are over.
The Duke of Sussex is back in London from California for a service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday to mark the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games.
It is understood the prince, whose wife Meghan and their children stayed in the US, is undertaking several Invictus Games commitments this afternoon – but unfortunately his and his father’s diaries are too busy for a visit.
A spokesperson for the Duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme. The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
Last week a source said Harry, concerned about his father’s diagnosis, had hoped to see his father during his brief stop in the UK.

Prince Harry’s grievances ‘pathetic’ in face of Kate’s ‘very real’ problem – expert
Prince Harry’s grievances against his royal relatives seem “pathetic” in comparison to the Princess of Waleses’ “very real” cancer news, a royal expert has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex is due to be in the UK this week and is set to attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday to mark 10 years of his Invictus Games for sick and injured servicemen and women. He looks set to meet up with his father King Charles, with the pair both scheduled to be in London together on Wednesday.
However, it appears there will be no reunion between feuding brothers Harry and Prince William as their relationship continues to be frosty. A source said: “Their relationship remains extremely fractured. Harry has privately expressed a wish to sit down with his brother but now is not the time.”

Prince Harry’s UK security decoded
When Prince Harry and Meghan decided to step back as working royals, it started a chain reaction that would see Harry’s life change forever.
What he had always known while living inside the Royal Family was left only as a memory, including the level of security to which he is entitled. Harry’s automatic taxpayer-funded security was removed officially when he and Meghan were in Canada and across the world borders were closing in an attempt to control the Covid pandemic.
In both his memoir and the couple’s Netflix documentary, the couple recall the fear they felt when they realised they were about to lose their security protection – despite, they say, the threat against them being unchanging.
Since then, Harry has been embroiled in an ongoing saga with the Home Office over his security in the UK, offering to pay for it himself – something that was denied. When the Duke visits these days, his security is managed on a “bespoke” case-by-case basis, rather than being automatically supplied. This means that sometimes Harry pays for security himself, and on other occasions the government deem it appropriate to pay for it and supply him with police protection.

Prince Harry ‘must have one profound regret’, says expert
Prince Harry is now in the UK for a very special event that’s incredibly close to his heart.
Tomorrow, he is due to attend a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games for sick and injured servicemen and women. The first edition of the games took place in London in 2014 and was attended by the likes of King Charles and Prince William.
However, when Harry appears for the event at St Paul’s tomorrow, it appears that he will be solo. Wife Meghan Markle is not joining him in London, and it seems none of his royal relatives will be in attendance at the event.
And according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, Harry may come to regret the frosty relations between him and his family overshadow one of his biggest achievements. She told OK!: “Harry is not a bad person. He was always the most popular of the young royals and was fun, modern and warm.

Where will Prince Harry stay in UK?
Prince Harry will most likely not stay in a royal residence while in the UK, as he attends a celebration of the Invictus Games.
The Duke of Sussex landed in London this morning and is expected to appear at St Paul’s Cathedral tomorrow (May 8) to celebrate ten years of the Invictus Games, and it’s thought his short appearance in the UK will see him reside in a hotel suite instead of a royal palace or residence. Harry, who stepped back from the royal family in 2020, will make an appearance at the Service of Thanksgiving and stay briefly in the UK before he later joins wife Meghan Markle as the couple make a joint appearance in Nigeria.
Harry’s UK visit also marks the first time that Harry will have returned to the UK since he flew to the country in February after King Charles’ cancer diagnosis was revealed. Harry flew to see his father and was in the country for just 25 hours following the health update, where it was rumoured he saw the King only for a brief 30-minute meeting, which is believed to be their first proper private conversation for 15 months.

Prince William is not set to be at the celebration tomorrow or see Harry in general, according to sources.
An insider told The Mirror’s Royal Editor Russel Myers: “Their relationship remains extremely fractured. Harry has privately expressed a wish to sit down with his brother but now is not the time.”
After the anniversary event, Harry will be jetsetting to Nigeria to join Meghan as they accepted an invitation from the Chief of Defense Staff, the highest-ranking military official.
The visit is reported to be about the Invictus Games which Nigeria entered last year in Düsseldorf, Germany for the first time.

Prince Harry fears ‘isolation’, body language expert claims
After Harry’s appearance at today’s Invictus Games Foundation Conversation, body language expert Judi James examined photos and suggested Harry has “feelings of isolation” even though he is showing a happy front at today’s event.
“This is a confident, splayed-leg, knee-bent walk from Harry who, with his chin raised and an eye-smile that suggests some delight at all the royal-looking fuss here, appears more than happy to enjoy a reception that involves some sort of a military parade for him to inspect as well as a warm, bicep-grabbing man hug reception from his hosts,” she said.

It came as Harry attended an event at Armoury House in the east of the capital and it was confirmed he would not be meeting with his father, the monarch, during his short visit to the UK.

Harry will not meet Charles during fleeting UK visit in major snub
Prince Harry will not meet with his father King Charles during his trip to the UK, a spokesman for the Duke has said.
Harry has travelled solo from his home in California to London in order to attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games, which he set up for injured servicemen and women to compete in a variety of sports. It had been hoped he could meet with his father but it seems it is not possible.

Prince Harry’s sad last visit to UK – snub, hotel stay and back home next day
Prince Harry has landed in London for a special Invitus Games celebration this week, but the last time the Duke of Sussex visited his home country, it was a much more sombre occasion.
When King Charles announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer, Harry rushed home to see his father and speak with him in person, but due to the last-minute nature of the visit, the father and son were only able to squeeze in a seriously short time together.
After spending just 30 minutes with each other, King Charles left London for Sandringham to rest having begun his cancer treatment as an outpatient, and while Harry got some face time with his father, he is said not to have crossed paths with his elder brother Prince William during his visit.
Just the next day, after staying in a hotel, Harry flew straight back home to California, where he lives with his wife Meghan and two children: Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. This time around, sources have claimed that Harry and King Charles definitely intend to see one another again, but there may not have been much movement towards reconciliation with William, with Harry said not to have reached out to his brother ahead of his visit.

The Duke of Sussex has made the trip from the States to England for an Invictus Games event in the capital city of his former home country. Flying solo and without his wife, Harry is now in the UK alone to celebrate the Invictus Games.
ITV’s royal editor From Chris Ship confirmed at 1pm this afternoon: “Prince Harry is in the UK. He landed here ahead of his St Paul’s Cathedral service tomorrow to mark 10 years of the @WeAreInvictus which he founded in 2014. He’s doing some Invictus related events today.

Meghan Markle ‘totally against the idea of Prince Archie visiting UK any time soon,’ claims expert
Meghan Markle is “totally against the idea of Prince Archie visiting the UK any time soon”, claims a royal expert.
The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, is due to return to the United Kingdom today, with him flying back to his home country without his wife and children. Harry will be in attendance at a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral tomorrow for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
Meghan is seemingly snubbing the event, which reportedly “prompted a huge sigh of relief from Kensington Palace”, with her remaining in Montecito, California following Prince Archie’s fifth birthday on Monday. And now it has been claimed that the Duchess is very much against the idea of her son making a trip to the UK any time soon.
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, royal expert and author Tom Quinn claims that despite his longing to see the family castles, “Prince Archie won’t be visiting the UK again any time soon – Meghan is totally against the idea”.
However, he added that “Harry is beginning to think Archie might be the perfect person to help heal the divisions in the family”. Quinn noted: “Back in the UK with Archie by his side, the old bitter arguments might well begin to disappear. Harry is undoubtedly becoming increasingly worried that his children will have no relationship with their grandfather or indeed with their cousins and he sees a way through this which will allow Meghan to stay in the USA while he occasionally visits with Archie and, later on, Lilibet.”

Kate and Prince Harry’s relationship now – from beloved ‘sister’ to sad olive branch
Prince Harry and Princess Kate were close for many years, with Harry even calling her “more sister than in-law,” and the “sister I’d never had and always wanted” in his memoir.
Although Kate officially joined the Royal Family back in 2011 upon her marriage to Prince William, her bond with Harry long predated that – with the pair first becoming friendly during the many years Kate and William dated after university.
In recent years, however, things have become more strained between the Sussexes and the Waleses, and since Harry and Meghan left life in the UK behind, the couple has been open about their grievances with the rest of the royals – and their aides.
Amid Kate’s health challenges, there has been hope from royal fans and some commentators that it might be possible for the two couples to reconcile after Harry and Meghan didn’t hesitate to issue a strong statement of support for Kate when she announced her cancer diagnosis.
When Kate announced that she had begun cancer treatment and appealed for privacy as she focussed on her recovery, the Sussexes quickly echoed her sentiments in an official statement. “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the couple said.
Harry and Meghan were also reported to have “reached out” to Kate privately after learning the emotional news. However, it remains to be seen whether the health challenges will be enough to bring the once-close Harry and Kate back into more friendly territory.

King Charles breaks cover ahead of Prince Harry visit and meet-up hopes
King Charles has broken cover and been seen leaving Windsor Castle as Prince Harry is due back in the UK with plans to meet him.
The monarch was spotted in the State Bentley leaving his Windsor residence this morning, dressed smartly in a suit and tie. Last week Charles, who is undergoing cancer treatment, returned to public duty by visiting a London cancer centre as well as the Royal Windsor Horse Show. This week, he is expected to have his weekly audience with the Prime Minister and could join a Buckingham Palace garden party tomorrow.
But it could be that a reunion with his estranged son Harry is also on the cards as they will both happen to be in London tomorrow. The Duke of Sussex is due to attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral tomorrow to mark the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games, which he set up for injured servicemen and women.
Harry has had a rocky relationship with his dad, especially since he was highly critical of his royal relatives in his controversial memoir Spare – and and was particularly scathing about his stepmother Queen Camilla. But according to sources, the monarch was keen to see his son, who now lives in California.
A source said last week: “Harry has kept in regular contact with his father on several occasions and made no secret of his desire to see him when he can. He has been especially concerned about him and hopes the King will be well and able to see him as planned.”

William and Kate ‘going through hell’ amid cancer battle says ‘heartbroken’ family designer
A close friend of Prince William and Kate Middleton say the pair have been “going through hell” since the Princess was diagnosed with cancer.
Children’s clothing designer Amaia Arrieta – the woman behind many of the young Kensingtons’ outfits – has spoken out about how the family have been coping in the weeks and months following Kate’s devastating diagnosis.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Amaia said: “I’m heartbroken at the moment. I think they are going through hell.” She added: “I hope they will be back. It’s really personal.”
Spanish designer Amaia has been the source of the childrens’ outfits since the eldest son, Prince George, was just a baby. She told the publication that being able to dress the royals brings her “so much pride”. Her designs were first spotted as a pair of shorts and knee high socks in a portrait of Prince George back in 2014.
Last week, Prince William gave a rare update about his wife as she continues her cancer treatment while carrying out a number of engagements. During a trip to the north east of England, he met several royal fans supporters draped in union jack flags and clutching flowers, who had been waiting outside to see him. One of them was Julie Cain, 60, who asked the heir to the throne: “Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are?” And William replied: “All doing well, thank you. Yes, we’re doing well.”

Nine-word reason Prince William won’t see Prince Harry during rare UK visit
Prince Harry is due to fly back in Britain for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. And given his fractured relations with the Royal Family, he is likely feeling some trepidation.
There has been much speculation about whether Harry will reunite with his older brother, Prince William and sister-in-law Princess Kate, during his time in the UK. But, it seems that decision has been made for him.
William and Kate – who is receiving cancer treatment – are said to have no intention of seeing Harry for one simple reason; he has broken their trust.
An alleged friend of the couple told the Daily Beast: “Both sides understand each other’s position clearly. William and Catherine felt completely betrayed by Harry’s memoir. They don’t speak to Harry and Meghan, and they are certainly not about to start when Catherine is at her most vulnerable.”
Meanwhile, an insider told The Mirror’s Royal Editor Russel Myers: “Their relationship remains extremely fractured. Harry has privately expressed a wish to sit down with his brother but now is not the time.”
Another insider claimed that the brothers haven’t managed to have a breakthrough in their tense relationship – despite Harry and Meghan sending well-wishes to Kate following her cancer news. “A ‘get well soon’ message is neither here nor there. But the whole situation doesn’t use up a huge amount of their mental energy any more. William and Kate have accepted it and moved on,” they told the Daily Beast.

Harry shared relatable mistake he made as Meghan gave birth
Many people are nervous when they become first-time parents and it seems Prince Harry was no different.
Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their first child together, Prince Archie, on May 6, 2019. Harry was very nervous ahead of the birth and decided to try something out to calm himself down – using the laughing gas that was meant for his wife.
The Duke of Sussex recalled the moment in his memoir, Spare. Setting the scene, he explained how Meghan was bouncing on a giant ball inside Portland Hospital in London when he took “several slow, penetrating hits.”
Writing in Spare, Harry said: “Meg, bouncing on a giant purple ball, a proven way of giving Nature a push, laughed and rolled her eyes. I took several more hits and now I was bouncing too.”

Charles has transformed his gardens for William and Kate’s kids
It’s no secret that King Charles adores his grandchildren, and recently he has transformed his gardens to suit the needs of his eldest grandson, Prince George.
The King is the most enthusiastic gardener in the royal family, and has a keen interest in the natural world. Evidently he intends to pass on his love of the environment to his grandson Prince George, but he has implemented several changes to his gardens nationwide so George can have a lot of space to play with his siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
He made three big alterations. Firstly, considering he has always been an advocate of planting trees, he has been outspoken over the years about his wish to preserve the environment for his grandchildren.
Last year, Charles took part in the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative for the Jubilee by planting some trees himself at the Balmoral Cricket Pavilion. He has also revealed how he planted trees with Prince George at Highgrove when he was younger, hoping that he will still be interested in them as he grows up.

‘Dream guest’ Meghan Markle skips Met Gala
Meghan Markle is a no-show at this year’s Met Gala, despite the fact that host Anna Wintour has said that she would be a “dream guest.”
Back in 2019, Anna expressed that she would like the Duchess of Sussex to attend with none other than Kate Middleton. However, she didn’t have any desire for their royal husbands, Prince Harry and William, to attend – telling them to stay home.
“I would love to have the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge [Kate’s then-title prior to becoming the Princess of Wales] together,” Wintour said during an interview with Today. “That would be my dream couple.”
“They could leave their husbands at home,” she added. “It’s the two of them I want.”
However, plenty has changed since then. Back in 2019, Meghan was still apart of the Royal Family and the tension between her and the Duchess of Wales was not as widely known.
In January 2020, Meghan and Harry announced that they’d be stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family. Once they began distancing themselves from the family, they began to speak more candidly about their experience with the palace.
