Prince Harry ‘offering an olive branch’ to Royal Family – but isn’t getting a response
The Duke of Sussex is expected not to receive much of a greeting from his family members when he makes his return to the UK next week without wife Meghan Markle despite his best efforts

Prince Harry has invited all of his family members to the Invictus Games 10-year celebration ceremony in London in an attempt to make amends with them.

The Duke of Sussex has reportedly extended an olive branch to his family but none of the senior members are expected to turn up at the event at St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday. Both his father King Charles and sister-in-law Kate Middleton are currently undergoing cancer treatment and his relationship with his brother Prince William remains strained.

Now a source has claimed that Harry invited William and other members of the Royal family to the event to honour the charity he founded while still a working Royal. It is still unknown if Harry will meet with his father elsewhere during his trip to the UK.

The source – a well-placed London Socialite – confirmed to Page Six that Harry had sent the invitations in an attempt to make amends with his family. The publication also claim that Charles is expected to invite Harry and Meghan to Balmoral Castle in Scotland this summer in order for him to see his grandchildren Archie, four, and Lilibet, two.

Charles is expected to have his weekly meeting with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Wednesday before attending the first Buckingham Palace garden party of the year. It is unclear if any lower-ranking Royals may attend the service in London.

While no official reason for Meghan not attending the service has been given, speculation has been rife over the motives behind the move. The Duchess of Sussex hasn’t been to the UK since September 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. Now a Royal Expert has noted that Meghan’s reasons for staying away could be as simple as concerns over child care and her safety.

Speaking on Newsweek’s Royal Report podcast, Royal Correspondent Jack Royston explained his views on why Meghan would not come to the UK, but will be taking part in the Nigerian trip. He said: “The centrepiece of this visit is a service of Thanksgiving for Invictus at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Now the last time Meghan went there, Meghan and Harry were booed by royalists. That was during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. There were cheers as well, but there were certainly boos, and that was during a similar service of Thanksgiving.”

He also added that Meghan could simply be avoiding the UK because of the negative memories she has of her time there adding that it “could genuinely be as simple as the fact that Britain probably holds some pretty difficult memories for her.” Jack also raised the security concerns Harry and Meghan face over their children adding that “it’s not impossible, I suppose, that they could take Archie and Lilibet with them, but they may not want to… Harry and Meghan don’t have guaranteed police protection in Britain anymore, so they may simply feel that the country isn’t safe for the whole family.”
