Prince Harry will be in the UK next week
Prince Harry is likely to feel a range of emotions when he returns to the UK, with one expert suggesting his trip will be a “sombre event”.
The Duke of Sussex will visit London next week to attend a special service to celebrate the Invictus Games. He’s scheduled to give a reading during the event on May 8, but Meghan Markle won’t be with him. The service will take place at St Paul’s Cathedral, the same place his parents got married.
The then-Prince Charles married Princess Diana in 1981, but they split in 1992 and finalised their divorce in 1996. The divorce deeply affected Harry and royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths believes he might struggle as he visits St Paul’s Cathedral without his wife by his side.

She believes Harry will be “so lonely” without his wife and said the decision is “so sad”. Speaking to GB News, Charlotte added: “That’s where his parents got married. It’s going to be a very sombre and senior event.”
Harry has previously spoken out about his parents’ split and said it left him and his brother Prince William “bouncing between two of them and never seeing either enough”. Speaking in the documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, Harry said: “There was the point of where our parents split and the two of us were bouncing between the two of them and we never saw our mother enough or we never saw our father enough.”
He added: “There was a lot of travelling and a lot of fights on the back seat with my brother, of which I would win. So there was all of that to contend with. And I don’t pretend that we’re the only people to have to deal with that. But it was an interesting way of growing up.”

The Duke of Sussex will want his wife by his side
Royal expert Charlotte also suggested Harry would want Meghan by his side at St Paul’s Cathedral. “It’s a really important part of Harry’s soul, and the kind of thing he’d want his wife, maybe even his kids by his side for,” Charlotte said.
She added: “Meghan is leaving him there alone, and I just think he’s going to cast a really lonely portrait of a man without his friends around him, without his family and without senior members of the Royal Family. And no wife there with him as well.”
Offices for the Sussexes and Buckingham Palace have not yet confirmed plans for Harry to meet with his family when he returns to the UK. Charlotte said the Invictus Games service will be “very stark” if Harry goes without his family.
