Prince William praises Terri, Bondi and Robert Irwin and late father Steve Irwin for conservation work

Robert Irwin and family were honoured by the Prince of Wales for their conservation work.
The Irwin family have been honoured for their conservation work by the Prince of Wales at the annual Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Prince William shared a pre-recorded message for the family, praising their conservation efforts and those of the late Steve Irwin.
Steve Irwin died aged 44 in 2006, when his chest was punctured by the barb of a stingray while he was filming on the Great Barrier Reef.

The black-tie gala is held annually to celebrate Irwin’s life and legacy and was hosted by the Vegas Bellagio Resort and Casino on May 11.

Robert, Bindi and Terri Irwin were honoured by William, Prince of Wales, at the Steve Irwin Gala on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Robert wore a black suit, with a crisp white shirt and bow-tie, while Bindi opted for a glamorous forest green maxi dress and Terri donned an eye-catching black-and-white textured frock.
The Prince of Wales praised the family in a recorded message played at the event.
“Tonight is all about conservation and continuing Steve’s global mission to protect life on our planet,” William said.
“His (Steve’s) dream was to have the cleanest water, the freshest air and wildlife in abundance. But most of all, he wanted a future for our children — advocating for the preservation of life on our planet.

“It is a passion I share, and it is why I launched The Earthshot Prize, to search for and scale the most innovative solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges.
“Our mission is to protect and restore our planet in this critical decade leading up to 2030.”
The Earthshot Prize was inaugurated in 2020 to recognise contributions to environmentalism and offers £1 million ($A1.9 million) in prize money for innovative solutions to environmental problems.
“Seeing the global impact of the charity, founded by Steve and Terri in 2002, brings hope for the future,” William said.
“Never before has it been so important for every single one of us to make environmentally conscious choices that will ensure the healthy future of our planet.”
