Prince William has finally addressed the conspiracy theories circulating online about the health of his wife Kate.
A spokesperson for the senior royal issued a statement to US magazine People which was published on March 6.”His focus is on his work and not on social media,” they told the outlet.
The heir to the British throne has spoken out as rumours continue to swirl on social media about the Princess of Wales’s prolonged absence from official duties.
Kensington Place on January 17 announced the mother-of-three had been admitted to hospital the day before for “planned abdominal surgery”.
“Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,” the statement said.
“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate.
“She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”
As the weeks dragged on with no public sightings of the Princess – one of the most photographed women in the world – royal fans began to speculate over the state of her health.
When the Prince of Wales made a sudden withdrawal from a scheduled event last Tuesday, the rumour mill kicked into overdrive.
Kensington Palace has continued to dismiss the speculation, stating the Princess was “doing well” since her surgery.
“Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the Princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands,” a palace spokesperson said.
The furore over the Princess of Wales’s health comes after King Charles III underwent a medical procedure for an enlarged prostate.
It was revealed in February the British Monarch had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer.
He later reached out to thank the public for their “many messages of support and good wishes,” he had received in the wake of the news.
“As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement,” he said in a statement.
