Princess Diana would be so proud of the way her son Prince William is stepping up to help his family during Kate Middleton’s recovery from her January abdominal surgery.
Lately, Prince William has been keeping a low profile. He had one brief engagement last week after canceling his appearance at King Constantine of Greece’s memorial at the last minute.
And Sky News recently reported that he is taking a two-week break and won’t return to his royal duties until mid-March.
And now, royal insiders are reporting that this is all so he can spend more time with his family – just like the late Princess would have done.
Majesty Magazine’s editor-in-chief and royal author Ingrid Seward said on Hello! Magazine’s A Right Royal Podcast that the Prince of Wales is leaning more toward the way his mom parented than the way his dad King Charles did.
“Charles always put duty first because that’s what his mother did,” Seward said. “And that’s what Diana decided she wouldn’t do. I think Charles has encouraged William to spend more time with the family and also said to William, ‘I don’t want you to take on any royal duties until you absolutely have to’ because you remember we criticized William the work-shy? And that was his father very much saying, ‘You don’t have to do this, be with your young family. Enjoy it while you can. You’ve got years and years and years of royal duties to do.'”
And apparently, Prince William is taking that advice to heart. According to Hello!, he has planned his schedule around taking his kids Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, to and from the Lambrook School in Berkshire every day since Middleton has been sick.

Princess Diana was always getting down on her kids Prince William and Prince Harry’s level and playing with them, so we know she would have been happy with the way her eldest son is prioritizing his family. Even her death has affected the way Prince William parented. When she died from a car crash in 1997, William was only 15 years old.
