Prince Harry is still very wary of stepmother Queen Camilla’s motives and her developing relationship with estranged brother Prince William.
Amid both of King Charles and Kate Middletons’ cancer battles, Camilla, 76, and the Prince of Wales, 41, have been stepping up to the plate and taking on more royal engagements.
However, this has led to the Duke of Sussex, 39, to become suspicious of Camilla and William’s blossoming bond, according to royal expert Tom Quinn.
“He [Harry] really distrusts that William actually gets on rather well now with Camilla,” the “Scandals of the Royal Palaces” author told the Mirror earlier this week.
“Harry will see this as a betrayal. He was shocked when William realized that Camilla, far from being the monster they thought her when they were children, is actually a rather nice woman,” he added.
Camilla and Charles infamously had an on-again/off-again affair while the latter was married to the late Princess Diana throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
Diana then died in a fiery car crash in August 1997 and Charles tied the knot with Camilla in 2005.
Quinn added that the Duchess of Cornwall is an “exceptionally good at listening with a sympathetic ear and William has definitely warmed to that.”
He continued: “Harry on the other hand, sees this as one more example of William letting the side down — for Harry, things have never moved on really since his mother [Diana] died.”
“For Harry, Camilla was the wicked stepmother back then, and she still is.”
“It’s all very sad, but shows that the huge geographical divide between the brothers — Harry in America, William in London – has become a physical manifestation of their emotional separation,” Quinn explained.
The Invictus Games founder and his wife, Meghan Markle, moved to Montecito, Calif. in 2020 after deciding to break away from the royal family.
The rest of the Firm still reside in England, with Harry seldomly making trips back across the pond to his homeland.
Harry raised eyebrows last year when he published his 400-page bombshell memoir “Spare.”
In the book, he made shocking comments about Camilla, alleging that she leaked stories to the press about him and the rest of the royal family.
During his promotional tour for “Spare,” Harry elaborated on his claims about “villain” Camilla in a “60 Minutes” interview with Anderson Cooper.
The father of two stated that she desperately wanted to rehabilitate her image from being seen as an evil figure in the British media.
Harry said: “That made her dangerous because of the connections that she was forging within the British press.”
“There was open willingness on both sides to trade information. And with a family built on hierarchy, and with her on the way to being queen consort, there was gonna be people or bodies left in the street,” he continued.
